It all started with the discovery of a mutual interest in fabric. Our drawers were bursting with the stuff, and while these remnants had served their time in many of our own sewing projects, we were becoming much more interested in them as small pieces of homespun art.
Our collection is far from museum quality, but it does represent years of saving hand-me-downs, scouring church rummage sales, and attending quilt shows, touching and savoring grandmotherly aprons, homemade kitchen curtains, ladies hankies, and unfinished quilt blocks.
Wanting to showcase these elegant little scraps, we launched our company, Material Image, designing and printing a group of greeting cards, which digitally capture the look, feel, and, we hope, charm of these portraits of history in thread.
We’ve kept them simple, because that’s what we look for in cards. No amusing one-liners or ‘occasional’ message to limit you. No fancy packaging to drive prices up.
Each card is printed with premium, archival inks on heavy white stock, cut to fit its standard A2 envelope (4-3/8” x 5-3/4”), and individually packaged in a clear cellophane envelope. Suggested retail price: $3.50.
We hope you like our cards and encourage you to visit our site’s “Contact Us” page. We are working to bring you more handsome things for the desk and home, and your thoughts on the subject would be most helpful.
Looking forward to a healthy, happy, and productive 2005,
Diane Botnick and Stephanie Rudolph
